This is of the accepted ordinary type but embodies some constructional modifications. The hollow front forks are carried up to the steering head and accommodate the back bone pivot between them with a forward extension of the saddle spring as patented in 1876 by I. C. Garrood.

[edit] How it works

The radial spokes are tightened at the hub by nipples. The wheels have solid tyres, solid bearings, and a lever-operated spoon brake to the front wheel; the pedals are of rubber. The front wheel is 55 in. diam., and the rear one 20 in. The pedal radius is adjustable from 6 in. to 3.5 in. The wheel base is 36 in. and the weight 49 lb.
