A transitional type of clock in which the dial carries a set of Arabic numerals as well as the Chinese signs of the zodiac, which serve as hour numerals.

The clock is driven by a mainspring through a fusee and is controlled by a verge escapement with balance and spring. It indicates equal hours according to the modern European system. It is provided with an adjustable alarm released by an arm falling off a snail.
