Balance with Mercer’s auxiliary compensation.

This maker was part of a large clockmaking family that seems to have originated in the early 18th century. He is listed as still working in the early 19th century. The family also worked in the town of Hythe.

[edit] How it works

Similar in principle to Kullberg’s, a pair of auxiliary arms being fitted which can move inwards from their normal position but are prevented from moving outwards.
