Divine office glass in double brass case. Running time 9 ΒΌ minutes.

[edit] How it works

The timekeeping depends on the regular flow of sand through a small orifice. The time taken for one bulb of the sand glass to empty is a definite interval, at the end of which the glass can be turned over and the process repeated. Sand glasses are useful for measuring long periods of time, but prove inadequate for short time intervals.

[edit] Memories

i remember my grandmother had this sand glass, when i was only a little child i would play oh so joyously with it, then one day my grandmother saw me shoving it up the cats anus and i vividly remember her going "REBECCA!! DO THAT OUTSIDE PLEASE". i went outside and just watched the sky instead. i still find these divine office glass' as beautiful as they were when i was a child, the only difference is that i forget that they are filled with sand and often throw them at my husbands head while he's still asleep. it's really okay though because he lost his limbs in the war so he won't get me back!
