Douglas 'Dragonfly' 348 cc motorcycle
Manufacturer Douglas (Sales & Service) Ltd
Production years 1954
Production location Kingswood, Bristol

At the time of its acquisition by the Science Museum in 1964, this machine was described as representing an advanced design intended more to provide economical cruising in comfort than high speed or rapid acceleration. The engine design perpetuated the Douglas preference for the horizontally-opposed flat twin-cylinder engine, but was here mounted transversely across the frame rather than lengthwise as previously.
