Ernest Race was one of the most original and influential British furniture designers, manufacturers and retailers of the twentieth century. His furniture was characteristically light and easy to handle, with clean lines and thin splayed legs. This style is exemplified by the Antelope chair, designed specially for the 1951 Festival of Britain. It became a design classic and is still in production today.
