Opening dates 2010

Biker Tribes is a planned special exhibition launching at the Science Museum during 2010. The exhibition will contain 140 motorbikes and bicycles from throughout the 20th century, telling the story of two-wheeled transport and the people who ride them. You'll be able to find your tribe in this object-rich exhibition which tells the social, historical and technological stories about the development of two-wheeled vehicles.

The exhibition will draw in a breath-taking range of current machines, grouping them according to the lifestyles and loyalties of the many groups who all use two-wheelers in special ways. Adventure tourism, Moto GP, commuters, track day stars, Mods, Tour de France and many more 'Tribes' will be on display, in conjunction with compelling photography and narratives covering every group.

In addition, the Science Museum will supplement the current machines with timelines of historic machines from its own superb collections illustrating the origins and development of all kinds of bike – powered and unpowered – from the earliest days.
