Model of Stonehenge
Manufacturer Joseph Browne
Production years 1873 (original 2500 BCE)

Built over a period spanning 1500 years, Stonehenge attracts thousands of visitors each year to see a unique collection of standing stones set in the Wiltshire countryside. Theories as to the function of the ancient monument have ranged from religious temples to astronomical observatories for the Sun and Moon.

This model dated to 1873 was made Joseph Browne and is significantly different to the present day monument. It shows the layout of the standing stones prior to the extensive restoration that took place around 1901.
