Nagra is the brand name for professional-quality audio recorders made by Kudelski S A in Switzerland. The word is from Polish and means ‘[it] will record’. The machines were ruggedly-built and reliable. This example is driven by a clockwork motor, obviating the heavy current drain on batteries. It is believed to have been used on an Everest expedition, but no further details of this are known.
