The Philips CD303 was one of the first CD players to be marketed in Britain. It is shown here because the CD is tracked by the laser at a constant linear speed. The CD system differs from the ‘World’ record controller in that the tracking is from the inside to the outside of the disc, with a progressive reduction in rotational speed.
