This tiny model elctricity meter does actually work. It was presented to the Chief Electrician for Worcester County Council, on the occasion of the instakllation of the 10,000 elctricity meter in the town.

Electricity is a form of secondary power delivery distributed by cable to nearly every home. Generated for public supply from coal for the first time by Thomas Edison in New York in 1882, it is also the most convenient way to use renewable sources of power (wind, water, tidal, solar and others). This convenience is so great and so embedded in our civil infrastructure that moving away from electricity now would be extremely difficult.
