Sterling Sapphire Dental Chair
Manufacturer Amalgamated Dental Co.
Production years 1958-1965
Production location London

The chair is typical of what was being installed in many 1950s National Health dental clinics. In the first eight months of its existence, the NHS’s dentists treated eight million cases. One third of these required false teeth, a comment on the poor state of the nation’s teeth.

[edit] How it works

A dentist wants to keep his patient comfortable and also be able to get good access to the mouth. This adjustable chair has a variety of mechanisms which allow the chair to be set in many positions.
