With changes in climate, habitats shift. The natural drift of non-human life is enhanced by travellers and their transport – exotic pests have a global reach, and may become commonplace where they are not expected.
Designed by African scientists to fool tsetse flies into thinking it was a cow, this trap enticed the insects to a death by baking in the hot sun. The pattern was distributed through INFOTERRA, an early computer-based communication system, between 1973 and 1990.
