Vespa Sportique Scooter
Manufacturer Vespa
Production years 1965
Production location Italy

This scooter closely resembles the pattern pioneered in 1946 by the Vespa and Lambretta designs. The main elements are: a fully enclosed fan-cooled motor; low seat height, resulting from the use of small wheels; and a 'step through' spine type frame surmounted by a leg shield / floor pressing giving considerable weather protection.

The scooter was often regarded with disdain by 'traditional' motorcyclists but it has enjoyed widespread popularity among people who would not otherwise have considered two-wheel transport. Many other firms started to build scooter-type vehicles. However, none have enjoyed the commercial success or the longevity of the two Italian originals.
